Delete Directories/Files

You can delete one or more directories and/or files at the same time. You will receive an error if you do not have permission to modify the particular file or directory. Directories must be empty in order to be deleted, so you will have to delete all of the files and directories within a directory before receiving permission to delete the directory. If you attempt to delete other files and directories, the other files and directories will be deleted if you have the correct permissions.

Select all the directories (assuming they are empty) and the files you wish to delete and click "Delete Selected" to delete those directories and files.

The deleted directories/files will be moved into a wastebasket folder. You will have to delete them from the wastebasket folder if you wish to permanently delete them. (See how to use wasterbasket later). If a directory/file can not be deleted the rest of the directories/files selected will be moved to the wastebasket, and a message will inform you that no action was performed on the directory/file that could not be deleted.

Rename a Directory/File

You may rename only one file or directory at a time, and you will not be allowed to rename more than one. You must also enter a valid file name in the "New Directory or Filename" box. If you do not enter a filename or the name you create is invalid, you will be warned and no action will be performed. After selecting the directory/file and entering the new file name, click "Rename Selected".
