Smartypants MediaTM Emerges With Key Players
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - July 27, 2001 - Telusys, Inc. announced
the launch of a new division called Smartypants Media, which provides
streaming media services, hosting, video and audio production, editing,
Web development, and other creative services.
Classic Residence by Hyatt recently selected Telusys
to redesign and host the company's Web site. "We wanted to work with
Telusys because of their streaming capabilities and Web development experience,"
says Linda Mura of Classic Residence by Hyatt. "The online video
brochure is used to promote our senior living communities to the growing
online audience of older adults and their adult children. It is an effective
way to show potential residents the communities and services. Since we
have launched the featured streaming videos on our Web site, our online
sales leads have grown over 800%," adds Linda Mura.
The Association of College and Research Libraries, a
division of the American Library Association, has signed with Telusys
to host streaming seminars for its members. "With our e-learning
software, many of our industry association clients are generating revenue
and offering value-added services to their members," says Jennifer
Hist, Director of Interactive Education. "For ACRL, streaming their
90-minute videos was a natural fit, rather than sending out hard copy
videos." The return on investment for setting up the Telusys e-learning
software has typically been less than six months.
Its rapidly growing streaming media client list includes
Hyatt, Association of College and Research Libraries (a division of the
American Library Association), American Academy of Periodontology, American
Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), and AHIMA Campus.
Smartypants Media has moved into a new 3,000 square-foot
facility in the River north area of Chicago at 470 North Milwaukee in
a space directly next to the parent company. The company is also ramping
up its infrastructure, which will include triple redundant optical Internet
backbone connectivity with redundant power and generator backup. These
major network expansion and equipment purchases will allow Telusys to
effectively and seamlessly manage their growth in the Web hosting and
streaming media markets.
"We chose the name Smartypants Media because not
only is it fun and playful, but essentially our creative team members really are
'smartypants': they know what they're doing, and they're very good at
it," says Allen Hernes, Creative Director. "In addition to offering
our robust distance learning software, we have built some fun online games
for clients, including an online coloring book for the American Academy
of Pediatric Dentistry." Geared for children, the online coloring
book features characters such as Tommy Tooth, Tammi Tooth, and Babe E.
Tooth.
